congrats on the weightloss/maintaining, everyone :)

I just read a quote that I thought worth sharing: Failure is often temporary; giving up makes it permanent.

I need to keep that in mind.

Well, I'm still up 1.2 pounds from my previous "pre-vacation low" ... but at least that's not up 3.6 pounds, right? The air quality here has been "unsafe for sensitive groups" for the past three days, so no biking for me. I am not going to weigh in tomorrow (my official weigh-in day) because I don't want to log a gain ... yes, I'm stubborn.

Anyway, it's clear that my weight loss for the month of July will be less-than-stellar, despite the fact that I'm eating "clean" (except for vacation) ... so I do think I may be at some sort of plateau ~ which I expected to arrive sooner or later.

My spirits are good, and I'm feeling peaceful and resigned and determined ... with the knowledge that the weight will eventually go away ... but it may take a few summer months of "maintenance" for that to occur.

In the meantime, I'm still here, and still eating healthy.

I have been doing well with eating, but I don't like weighing myself that often. Though back when I was at my lowest adult weight of 120 I used to weigh myself a lot because I liked what the scale had to say.

I'm at a week long class where they have a plethora of food! Thankfully they also have a good salad bar where they have healthy stuff. This place is dangerous!

Molly-has it occurred to you that perhaps you put on some muscle in your legs-what with all that biking you have been doing, I wouldn't be surprised.

Wooo hoooo .... I managed to lose 1.2 pounds last week, despite being on vacation and eating in restaurants!!!!

This marks 32 straight weeks of weight loss for me, albeit a 1.2 pound loss is my second-lowest weekly loss since I started. Still, a loss is a loss is a loss, right?

This puts me at 109.2 pounds TOTAL lost so far.

Awwww, thank you, Betty! Let me tell you a secret about that wedding dress :) When I began looking for a dress, I was not having fun. I didn't like the styles available in bridal stores. They all looked like variations of the same style and weren't appealing to me, so I began looking on eBay. I discovered that you could get a dress made to your measurements AND delivered to your door for hundreds and even THOUSANDS less than if you bought it at a bridal shop. I searched and finally found that one, which I loved :) It was made to my measurements from a seller in China, and the total cost of that wedding dress WITH shipping was just over $150! And it fit perfectly :) It's very well-made, too. Here's the secret: it's a maternity wedding gown :P Yep! Not that I was in need of a maternity wedding gown, my husband and I waited for our wedding night, but I loved the style and look of that gown.

I need to hardboil some eggs this morning and make my own egg-white salad so I can have breakfast :)

Wow! That is an amazing bridal dress that I have ever heard.
I knew a girl who was trying to keep her wedding at a reasonable amount.
So she used satin for her dress which is used in lining coffins!

Thanks for sharing your secret... which is not a secret anymore... I think that I have heard that line before! lol

Harvie= You are a super model!!
Congratulations!
You are an inspiration to all of us!
You are proof that we can go on vacation and have fun and be mindful of what we eat and how much we eat!

Congratulation! You are doing super!!

Creativity is great, especially with wedding planning. I think our wedding was around $4000 or so, and it was beautiful :) No need to break the bank to have a gorgeous wedding!

I walked 3 miles tonight, and my feet are telling me all about it :P It's good, though.

Right now while I'm not working, I need to get off my keister and begin walking every day while I have the time. I can do at least 2 miles each day...but will I?

I'm eating right ... but did take 2 days off from biking since our air quality is so bad and my asthma is acting up. Of course, the scale isn't cooperating ... but at week 33 of this healthy eating adventure, I'm rather resigned to a bit of a slowdown. With temps in the 106-110 range and dreadfully smoggy air, I'm absolutely unmotivated to go biking or do much else, so I'm just trying to patiently wait things out. Of course, this is what it will be like around here for another 2 months, and I certainly don't want to maintain where I'm at for the next 2 months ... but I just keep reminding myself that GOD IS IN CONTROL.

(I just wish my scale would listen!)

yeah, it is pretty hot out this way, Harvie...I don't think air quality is as bad up here as it is down there, though.

Harvie, that was one of the worst parts of living there. I do not miss that at all. My asthma does better overall with the air quality in Kansas. Hope you can continue to be successful in your weight loss. My weight is beginning to climb upward. Of course, I haven't stayed on track with my diet (pregnancy cravings) and I haven't exercised like I would like. I have no excuse, but I didn't want the weight to leap back on me! A slow creep (due to baby's growth) would be more to my taste.

Congrats on the healthy eating, exercise and weight loss, everybody!

It's been hard to get motivated to exercise here, with it being hotter than that certain hot place out there! But I'm doing slightly better at eating better. Meaning that I've ate some vegetables in the past two days.

Right now, things are very challenging, but now it seems like I have an opportunity to either totally get rid of the junk food in the house, or box it up, seal it well, label it, MOM'S JUNK FOOD and put it in a closet or somewhere where I won't see it. I don't think that I can just throw it out, seeing it's her junk food and all.

Which do you think I should do?

I'VE SET MY NEXT GOAL .... and my eyes are on Monday August 9.

That date is signifcant for me for two reasons. First, that's my next appointment with my endocrinologist to see how I'm doing, diabetes-wise, thyroid-wise, and weight-wise ~ and I haven't seen her since April. I will get my blood tested the week before, so I will have a much clearer picture on how my blood sugars have been doing, too.

Second, that date marks exactly 8.25 months since my diet started. Why does 8.25 months matter to me? Because that's exactly how long the Biggest Loser contestants had between when they first started and the season finale ~ and I want to compare my percentage of weight lost by that date with the contestants from Season 9 which recently ended. And ~~ silly me ~~ I'm curious to see if I would've beaten 1 or 2 or 3 of them if I were actually competing with them, head-to-head. Now, I haven't been starving on 1200 calories per day or working out 8-12 hours a day in a boot-camp-style ranch situation, (and no one is offering me $100,000 or $250,000 to diet) ... but I just want to see how my personal "at home" efforts stock up against those people. I'd really love to "beat" a few of them ... and so I'm watching my weight loss percentage closely between now and August 9.

Anyway, I'm having my own, private "Biggest Loser" contest for the next few weeks, and just wanted to share!

I have read you guys' posts in this forum, and I know that I need to join you. Let me be honest, I am disgusting. Before I divorced my ex husband I was at 262 lbs, I lost down to 179. Now I am back up just over 200, around 205 or so. I need to lose this weight for good. It's killing me. Though I am blessed that my blood pressure and cholesterol are good. I would like to lose down to 165, even though all of those calculators say I shouldnt' weigh more than 156. When I got down to the 179, I was so proud of myself. I actually thought that I looked pretty good. My body isn't meant to be the 110 lbs, and I am okay with that. So yeah, I need help and lots of prayers. I know this is alot for me to ask you guys, as you are all in your own struggles with your weight issues. But if you wouldnt' mind if you had one more person to come to you for accountability, questions, ideas, prayers, and an "atta boy" on occasion, I would really appreciate it. So I guess here's my stats.

Height-5' 8"
Current weight-205-ish
Build-Medium/large. (I am not sure exactly which one I am. So if you have any idea on how I can figure that out, that would be great).

So my first step is to keep drinking a lot of water. I also need to go out and buy myself a scale, for my weekly weigh ins. I will keep my eyes peeled on the thread and keep you posted as to my progress and I will be there for you guys too. Now that being said, I am going nighty night and going to have a good cry. I will see you guys tomorrow. S

I'll go ahead and post some numbers, so you don't feel alone colorado lady.

At my heaviest I weighed 215.

At my lightest (since 7th grade that is haha) I weighed 158.

I am currently at 176 (down from 180 a week or so ago).

I'm 5'7" and am cursed with the apple shape.

I love every single part of my body EXCEPT my tummy...

If we can find peace with God through Christ, then surely we can find peace with our bodies!
