Dear Forum Members, There is a motto we live under at our church: "Do the Next Right Thing." Our pastor reminds us of it often. It has come to be the words we live our lives by. As the Apologia Academy registration deadline looms, we default to this treasured anthem. I cannot in good faith sign the current Apologia contract offer. The offer is more than fair. Apologia is not at fault. It simply boils down to different opinions on policies, procedures, and personalities. I am recommending that you enroll in the Apologia Academy or TPS course of your choice at this time. However, I will not be teaching for Apologia Academy as advertised in their printed catalog, online catalog, or Academy web site for 2010-2011. Seeing you follow this forum so closely, I thought you all should know the situation. Shelly and I would like to thank you for your support, friendship, and for allowing us to serve you through this forum and our classes. For 2010-2011, I will be teaching only one live Cleo's Classroom session of each subject so that I can record the presentation for the RWT DVD program. If you are interested in one of these very small group offerings, please contact me directly at rwt1@comcast.net. Please know my purpose here is not drum up business, however. It is to inform you of my change in status. I will continue to answer your questions on Apologia curriculums, but will do so as a private citizen and not an Apologia employee. God Bless, Steve

Just so you know that I left Apologia in good standing, here is a note from Jay Wile. It is still my goal to be an active member of this forum even through I am no longer employed by Apologia: This is truly a sad day for Apologia. Some teachers are good, fewer still are great, and only a handful are what I would call Master Teachers. Steve Rosenoff is, without a doubt, a Master Teacher. I remember the first time I listened to him teach. He came in as a "guest teacher" in one of my Potter's School biology courses so I could evaluate him and see whether or not Apologia should hire him for the next academic year. After what I thought was 15 minutes of him talking, I looked at the clock, and nearly an hour had passed. I knew all the material he was covering, but Steve made it so fresh and alive that I was, quite simply, mesmerized. The next time the class met, I told the students they had, probably for the first time in their lives, experienced what it was like to be taught by a Master - someone who elevates his profession to an art form. Over the years, Steve has taught me more about the art of education than anyone else, and I am a MUCH better teacher as a result. More importantly, however, he has taught me a lot about how to live as a Christian. I can't tell you the number of students I have met at conventions who have told me how deeply Steve has impacted their lives as an online teacher. One constant theme runs throughout these testimonies I hear: Mr. Rosenoff really cares. His students see and experience the love of Christ through him, even though most of them never even meet him. Thank you Steve. Thank you for caring for your students. Thank you for ministering to your students. Thank you for teaching your students. But most of all, thank you for what you have taught me. Your student, Dr. Jay

Hi Everyone, I thought you all might enjoy this link to Dr. Jay L. Wile's blog: http://blog.drwile.com/?p=1232 In this post, he uses an e-mail from a former student to further refute the AP article that was written. It is a good read because he demonstrated the excellence of home teaching and the myth that home schooled students are some how being deprived of a quality education. God Bless, Steve

Hi Everyone, RWT/Apologia will be launching a new joint v2.0 Instructional DVD this month. Beginning next week, RWT will offer an exclusive v2.2 Apologia Instructional DVD, two-disk set, done in MP4-HD format, which will include MP3 and MP4 IPOD uploadable files. The problem is I still have about thirty v1.0 DVDs left. These are currently selling for $100 on both Amazon.com and CBD. The new versions will sell for $150. Here is what each v1.0 disk contains: 32 WMV 60-90 minute video presentations 32 MP3 audio file for MP3 player upload 32 Fill-in-the-Blank lecture note sets 32 Teacher lesson notes with links 16 Formal experiment report samples 16 Module Tests and answers 01 1st Quarter Exam and answers 01 1st Semester Exam and answers 01 3rd Quarter Exam and answers 01 2nd Semester Exam and answers 01 Comprehensive Exam and answers 01 2009 Assignment Supplement 01 2009 Course Schedule 01 Introduction letter I can't bring myself to throw these away. I would rather give them away as a blessing. There is only four things I ask: 1. that you do not sell the disk 2. that you use it only for your family 3. that you ask for only one disk per household 4. that you send me a check for $10 to cover the shipping and handling after you receive the disk If you would like one of these disks, please just sent me an e-mail at rwt1@comcast.net: be sure to tell me which course you want and give me your shipping information. Please don't be offended if I write back and tell you a particular title is gone. I have some General Science, a few Physical Science, about six Biology, a whole bunch of Marine, and three Chemistry (that have flawed labels) left in stock. I expect all of these will go fast. God Bless, Steve

Red Wagon Tutorial's DVD's are very easy to use and his lectures are very interesting. I don't really like lectures but the way he presents the biology lectures it feels more like you're exploring the things he is teaching about than listening to someone talking about it. I would recommend this courses to anyone who wants to get the most out of their biology course.

What is important to me is that you are seeing Jesus in me and hearing God's voice as I teach. We just added our 2000th student worldwide this morning. RWT is now in 39 nations. We have one family in Russia that is using their Biology DVD to teach Russian children about God's Creation. RWT still gives away one free DVD to a missionary family serving overseas for each one we sell. It is our way of given back to God what He has given us. God Bless, Steve

Steve, thank you for everything. BTW, are you by any chance planning on visiting the Gulf? I would like to see you write about what is going on there.

Hi Judi, I won't be doing much traveling for the next five years. My RWT business plan calls for me to finish one online course each year. I am currently working on EC Advanced Biology, then EC Physics, then two math programs (which will directly prepare students for the Apologia Science curriculums), and then a Junior High Health and Fitness course will round out the product line. Each one takes a year to prepare, record, and edit. I am afraid Shelly, Cleo, and I will be sticking close to home for a while. We do have a condo at the beach rented for a week this summer :-) The cold, clear waters of the Pacific Ocean are a far cry from the warm, tarry waters of the Gulf, however. The Gulf situation is an enormous environmental disaster. There is no doubt in my mind that our government failed to do its primary job - to protect and preserve the general welfare of the nation's people. God Bless, Steve

Hi Everyone, For those of you contemplating purchasing the Apologia Instructional DVDs (featuring me as the instructor), I would caution you to be watchful about what you buy. There are three versions current out: v1.0, v2.0, and v2.2. Version 1.0 was actually released in June, 2009. If it is version 1.0, the product description will say that it has a 2009 Course Schedule and a 2009 Assignment Supplement. (I was giving these away earlier this summer.) They are still great disks and are very helpful. Just make sure you know what you are buying and understand that they don't have all the bells and whistles that the newest versions have. Red Wagon Tutorials released versions 2.0 and 2.2 early in June, 2010. They have a 2010-2011 Course Schedule and 2010-2011 Assignment Supplement and the description will say that. The v2.0 and v2.2 have been greatly enhanced: the video on v2.0 has been remastered to make it more PC and Mac compatible and v2.2's video was recorded in MP4-HD. The v2.2 two-disk set also has some neat features, like MP3-HD and IPOD-HD uploadable files to make the course instruction more portable. Please be informed and watchful about what you purchase. I want you to get your monies worth when you purchase one of my productions. I release a new version each year to update the course materials that each disk contains and to make a better product available. That release usually happens early in June after the school year ends and I finish the update process. God Bless, Steve

Recently, Red Wagon Tutorials was added to a "Vendor Watch List" by a home school co-op support group. We did not make the list because our products are bad. In fact, the group's coordinator so loved our Apologia Instructional DVD product that she wanted to buy a 200 family DVD use license. That is where the difficulty comes in. We made the list not because our service was poor, or our product bad, or any fault of our own. We made the list because we failed to negotiate a better co-op group price. Small Christian ministries, like Red Wagon Tutorials, walk a fine line. We exist to serve a focused, fringe population. The profit margin on our product is not large and, for most of us, what profit we do make goes back into the ministry. In Red Wagon's case after expenses are paid, the remaining money goes back into supporting missionaries overseas with free product and textbooks whenever possible. Many of us discount our product to the "make or break" point initially to give the best possible price to everyone from the start. In Red Wagon's case, we operate at a bare minimum: RWT's staff is my wife, Shelly; Cleo, our Golden Retriever; and myself. We work out of a back bedroom. We burn and package our DVDs on our kitchen table. We've trained Cleo to deliver the packages to the postman, and she fetches the newspaper on the way back. We keep our expenses to a minimum, so that we can sell you a GREAT product at the smallest amount possible. We can't afford to discount our product further and remain in business. I hope next time you look at a home schooling product online or at a convention, you will remember this little note. Home schooling product vendors exist to serve you - and we want to be around for a long, long time. To continue in business, we need your support and prayers, and a black bottom line to our accounting register. Squeezed too hard, and we will ultimately break. If you are wondering why your favorite home school product is no longer available in the future, please recall this small ministry's short, but pointed tale.

I hope that you will join me in praying for the co-op group involved. Red Wagon Tutorials is not Bob Jones or Apologia. We just finished hand packing 25 DVDs while we ate Chinese: hopefully, we did not get any hot mustard on the envelopes We do our very best to save every penny so we can offer you the lowest price possible.

ORIGINAL: judii1 +If you google red wagon tutorials vendor watch list, it takes you to this page. LINK which lists your post on Christianity.com It looks like the truth will be known. Thanks, Judi I'm glad the information above is being distributed. It has been a long day. We worked so hard to develop a good reputation and to produce a great product, then this happens. What is so sad is the 200 students will not get to see the wonderful images on the marine biology disk. Using the Internet, I take student to sites which show the beauty of what they are studying in God's Creation. When we talk about stars in class, for example, I can link them directly to the Hubble space telescope and show them the universe. When we talk about the deepest oceans, I can show them images of the amazing life that is there. All of this (and much more) is captured on my DVD disks. It is so sad that haggling over price has cost these students so much. The live course from which the DVDs are made costs $400. (Potter's School charges $460 and Apologia Academy charges $475 for the same live course.) I am charging $100 for the non-HD, single-disk DVD product and $150 for the two-disk, HD, DVD set. I am not getting rich off these disks, but I am doing the work to which God has called me. We still give a free DVD to a missionary family for each one sold also.

Hi Everyone, Here we go again. I was just forwarded a forum post from www.homeschoolreviews.com in which a author wrote that I was selling "old versions" of my DVDs on eBay and on my web site. This is totally 100% false. Each June after the school year is over, I produce new versions of my DVD classes on my RWT label. I release these first on my web site (www.redwagontutorials.com), then I release them on eBay and Amazon later in the summer after I fill all pending, pre-sold, orders. The current (2010) versions are v2.0 and v2.2. These are the only versions I have in stock, and they are the best versions available. CBD, Apologia, and the other major book distributors will start shipping v2.0 on Apologia's label beginning September 6th. Apologia is my publisher for this product. Just like any publisher, they have the right to produce their own label for the product they sell. As the owner of the copyright on the DVD, I have the right to produce my own label also. The only difference between the v2.0 RWT currently sells and the v2.0 that Apologia will be selling this fall is the label and packaging. The information on the disk is the same. I hope you will again help me spread the truth about this product. God Bless, Steve

A Word on Dr. Wile's Apologia Resignation I (Steve) guess it is my turn to weigh in on this discussion. I have known Jay Wile for eight years as a boss, a mentor, and a friend. He has never lied to me or concealed anything. He has always been forthright in his dealings and often trusting to a fault. At times we have butted heads, but we always resolved the dispute as Christian brothers. He goes out of his way to live out a Christian witness, not just expound his personal theological beliefs. I would trust Jay Wile with my life, my family, and covet his council. He is a good and decent man. I would also like to point out that Red Wagon Tutorials has a ministry separate from Apologia's. Apologia Educational Ministries and RWT have a contractual business relationship only at this time. We (RWT) produce a series of products and, under the terms of our joint contract, Apologia promotes, markets, and sells our products. They are our publisher. RWT pays Apologia a royalty for the services it provides. We retain control over RWT's message. Regarding our leaving Apologia, my wife and I felt led into full time ministry to pastor RWT. As both Dr. Wile and Mr. Carman are aware, we had been planning to leave Apologia even before the sale of the company was final. We stayed to help birth Apologia Academy and to grow RWT into a stable ministry capable of supporting God's purpose. Our leaving this last spring was ordained by God. We will be teaching Creation science through our live-feed, online recorded, and DVD programs to over 1000 students this next year. In addition to our for-profit educational services and products, we also are providing free DVD's to missionaries in forty-four nations and free Apologia textbooks from our profits to those serving overseas as the Lord enables. We are fulfilling the ministry entrusted to us. God's purpose in our leaving Apologia's employ is evident. Steve & Shelly Rosenoff
